Aparajit Lohan Patna Rural SP appointment followed the violent Mokama incident during the Bihar Assembly elections. The Home Department replaced Vikram Sihag with IPS officer Aparajit Lohan, a 2020 batch officer, after the murder of RJD leader Dularchand Yadav.
Dularchand Yadav was supporting Jan Suraj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi when clashes broke out between his supporters and those of JDU candidate Anant Singh. Police said Dularchand was hit by a vehicle and shot in the leg, leading to his death.
After the incident, the government removed SP Vikram Sihag and asked him to report to Police Headquarters. Aparajit, who was Patna Traffic SP, took charge as the new Patna Rural SP.
The Election Commission also acted quickly. It transferred Barh SDO Chandan Kumar and SDPO Rakesh Kumar and suspended SDPO Abhishek Kumar. The DGP called the Mokama violence a riot involving a violent crowd.
Aparajit Lohan Patna Rural SP now faces the challenge of bringing peace and ensuring strict law and order in the area. His appointment shows the government’s effort to maintain control during the tense election period.
