DGCA Proposes 48-Hour Free Cancellation, Airlines to Handle Refunds
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has proposed that passengers can cancel tickets within 48 hours of booking without any charges.
If tickets are purchased through travel agents or online portals, the airlines will be responsible for issuing refunds, ensuring faster and smoother processing.
The move aims to give passengers more flexibility and protect consumer rights in case of changes in travel plans. Airlines will need to update their refund policies and clearly communicate them to passengers. The proposal is now open for public consultation before final approval.
