ECI Seizes Cash, Liquor, and Drugs Worth Over ₹100 Crore Ahead of Bihar Polls
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that enforcement agencies have seized cash, liquor, drugs, and other inducements worth over ₹100 crore in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections.
To ensure fair polling, the ECI has deployed 824 flying squads and enforcement teams across the state. These teams are tasked with responding to complaints registered through the C-VIGIL app within 100 minutes, ensuring swift action against electoral malpractices. The Commission stated that the seizures underscore its zero-tolerance policy toward bribery and illegal influence on voters.
Officials said that surveillance has been intensified at inter-state borders, airports, and transport hubs to prevent the flow of unaccounted money and contraband. The ECI reiterated its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections, with constant coordination between central and state enforcement agencies.
