Rahul Gandhi Sparks Row Over Army Control Remark

Campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 ended today with a major controversy. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi stirred debate during a rally in Aurangabad while supporting the All India Alliance candidates. He claimed that 10 percent of India’s population controls the army and key institutions, leaving 90 percent—Dalits, backward, and minority communities—without fair representation.

Addressing a public gathering in Katumba, Rahul Gandhi said most Indians belong to backward and tribal communities, yet they hold no top positions in major companies or institutions. “If you examine India’s 500 largest companies, not one leader is from Dalit or backward groups,” he stated. He added that the Congress Party aims to create an India where every citizen lives with dignity and equal opportunity.

The BJP quickly hit back. Party spokesperson Suresh Nakhua accused Rahul Gandhi of “looking for caste in the army” and said his comments reflected hatred toward the nation. BJP leaders claimed the statement insulted the military and undermined India’s unity. The remark is now expected to become a flashpoint in the Bihar elections.
