Voting Underway in Bihar: EC Denies Claims of Voter Obstruction at Danapur

Voting Underway in Bihar

Voting is underway in Bihar for the first phase of the Assembly elections. The Election Commission (EC) has denied reports that voters were being stopped from casting their votes at Nasirganj Ghat in Danapur.

The controversy began after RJD spokesperson Priyanka Bharti tweeted that police were preventing boats from taking voters to polling stations. The EC quickly responded, clarifying that boat services at Nasirganj Ghat were running normally. Officials confirmed that voters were travelling freely and voting without any interference.

District Magistrate of Patna and senior officers are personally inspecting the area. They continue to monitor the polling process to ensure smooth voting. According to the EC, no voter has faced any difficulties reaching the booths.

This first phase of voting covers 121 seats across 18 districts. In Danapur, BJP’s Ramkripal Yadav from the NDA faces RJD’s Ritlal Yadav from the Grand Alliance. Lalu Prasad Yadav held a roadshow in support of Ritlal, who is currently lodged in Bhagalpur jail on extortion charges.

Despite early allegations, voting across Bihar remains peaceful, with officials ensuring fair participation and smooth operations at all polling centres.
