150 Years of Vande Mataram: Amit Shah Says Song Continues to Inspire National Pride
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that even after 150 years, “Vande Mataram” continues to inspire an undying spirit of patriotism among Indians. He noted that the song, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875, played a pivotal role in uniting people during the freedom struggle and still evokes pride and devotion toward the motherland. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the national song at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The event will feature cultural performances, exhibitions, and discussions highlighting the song’s historical and cultural legacy. Shah said that “Vande Mataram” is not just a song but a “symbol of India’s national consciousness” that continues to ignite the flame of nationalism and inspire future generations to serve the country with dedication and unity.
