A 30-year-old man, Bechu Mahato, was brutally killed in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, allegedly over a love affair. The shocking crime took place in Bhoraha village, near the Anhari–Sitamarhi road under the Riga police station area.
Bechu, son of Ramdev Mahato, ran a mobile and electrical shop at Bhoraha Chowk. On Thursday night, he closed his shop and headed home but never arrived. His worried family searched through the night. The next morning, villagers discovered his mutilated body lying face down near the Hanuman temple.
The attackers had gouged out his eyes and damaged his genitals, sparking outrage in the community. Hundreds of locals gathered at the scene as police reached for investigation.
Station House Officer Abhishek Kumar Tripathi and the FSL team examined the site. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Tripathi said the pattern of injuries suggests a love affair behind the murder.
Police have yet to receive a formal complaint from the victim’s family but have launched an investigation. The gruesome killing has left the entire Sitamarhi region stunned and fearful.
