PM Modi Visits Bhutan for Two-Day Trip to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday commenced a two-day official visit to Bhutan, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the neighboring countries. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and his father, the fourth king and predecessor, highlighting the historical and cultural bonds shared between India and Bhutan. Modi will also hold talks with Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, to discuss areas of cooperation including trade, hydropower, infrastructure development, and regional security. The visit underscores India’s commitment to deepening strategic, economic, and cultural relations with Bhutan, a key partner in South Asia. Officials have indicated that discussions may also cover environmental initiatives and climate action, reflecting shared concerns over sustainable development.
