The Railway Ministry sanctioned a ₹764 crore budget for the 25.72-km-long Ferozepur-Patti rail line, including ₹165 crore for land acquisition. Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu announced the project and directed Punjab’s Chief Secretary to begin land acquisition right away. The new rail section will link Punjab’s border district directly to Gujarat ports. This improvement promises better trade links, logistics, and growth for local industries.
Officials expect nearly 10 lakh people will benefit. The project should create about 2.5 lakh jobs and serve 2,500–3,500 daily passengers, especially students and employees from nearby areas. The line will revive a historic route, boost farm markets, and cut freight costs. It will drive new investment in education, healthcare, and local development.
