A 20-year-old engineering student at a local college in Etcherla, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, died by suicide on Wednesday. The student, identified as P Srujan, was a third-year electrical engineering student. He hanged himself in his hostel room in the early hours of the day, police officials said.
According to preliminary reports, Srujan was interested in filmmaking. He was reportedly undergoing medication and suffered from depression. Police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNS and are investigating the incident.
Authorities continue to probe the reasons behind the tragic death while also urging greater attention to student mental health. The incident highlights the growing concern over student well-being and the importance of supportive interventions.
