Trainer Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing on Tamil Nadu Highway
A small trainer aircraft made an emergency landing on a highway between Tiruchi and Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday afternoon after developing a technical snag mid-flight. Airport sources said the Cessna 172 single-engine aircraft, belonging to a local flying academy, was on a routine training mission when the pilot detected a malfunction and decided to land on the nearest safe stretch of road. The aircraft touched down safely, and both the trainee pilot and instructor escaped unhurt. Local police and airport authorities quickly reached the spot to manage traffic and ensure public safety. Preliminary reports suggest an engine issue may have caused the emergency. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed and is expected to conduct a detailed investigation. The aircraft was later moved from the highway to prevent disruption to vehicular movement.
