Delhi Red Fort Blast: Doctor-Led Terror Module Linked to JeM Exposed

Delhi

A deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening killed nine people and injured nearly two dozen others. CCTV footage captured a white Hyundai i20 erupting into flames near Red Fort Metro Station’s Gate No. 1 during rush hour. The blast at 6:52 pm damaged nearby vehicles and buildings in Old Delhi’s crowded streets.

Investigators identified the driver as Dr. Umar Nabi, a 32-year-old doctor linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). He bought the car from a Faridabad dealer on October 29 and was last tracked moving through several Delhi areas before the explosion.

Authorities believe Nabi led a “white-collar” terror module involving other medical professionals. Police arrested his close associates, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel and Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, recovering 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons. They also detained Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow, accused of planning a women’s wing of JeM in India.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is now leading the probe. Officials say the attack was a deliberate act of terror designed to spread panic. Teams are tracking the group’s wider network across multiple states.
