A 19-year-old teenager from Kerala died in Dubai after he fell from the terrace of a building in Deira. Mohammed Mishal, a Kozhikode resident, had been in the UAE for about 15 days to visit his cousins. His family told Gulf News that he loved photography and often captured aircraft near the area.
Mishal went to the terrace of a multi-storey building to photograph flights. The airport was close to the building, and he wanted a close-up shot of a plane. A family friend, Haneefa K K, said Mishal likely slipped after his leg got caught between two pipes. He lost balance and fell from the top of the building.
Emergency responders took him to Rashid Hospital soon after the fall. A social worker told Khaleej Times that Mishal had severe internal injuries. He was alive when he reached the hospital but died shortly after.
Mishal was studying for a diploma in civil engineering in Kozhikode. He is survived by his parents and two sisters. Haneefa said the family is completing legal procedures to repatriate his body.
Reports say this is the second similar incident this year in the UAE. In April, 17-year-old Alex Binoy died after a fall in Abu Dhabi.
