Rahul Gandhi reacted to the Mahagathbandhan’s crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly election, saying the polls “were not fair from the beginning.” He thanked voters who supported the alliance but called the results a serious setback that demands reflection.

In a post on X, he said the Opposition would keep fighting to protect the Constitution and democracy. He added that both Congress and the INDIA bloc would examine the factors that led to the poor performance and strengthen their efforts.

The NDA, led by the BJP and JDU, secured a historic victory with 202 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan managed only 35. Congress recorded one of its weakest results in Bihar since 2010.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera alleged that early trends indicated “Gyanesh Kumar working against the people of Bihar,” framing the contest as a clash between the people and the system. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the party accepts the mandate but will continue to oppose any misuse of constitutional institutions.

He thanked supporters and urged party workers not to lose hope, emphasising that the fight to protect democracy will continue.
