Sukhbir Singh Badal Warning Punjab Police Officers Acting Like Puppets created strong political noise in Tarn Taran on Monday. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President accused several Punjab Police officers of acting like tools of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said he would take every such officer to court if they continued arresting Akali workers without proof.
Badal visited many villages in Tarn Taran. He met the families of Akali workers who faced sudden arrests. He said the AAP government was losing control, and its frustration was now clear. According to him, police teams were arresting active Akali workers only because AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu failed to secure the votes he expected. He also said police officers even targeted women during late-night raids.
Badal explained that the police were not touching workers from Congress, the BJP or any other party. Only Akali workers were facing pressure. He said he had never seen such open hostility in Punjab politics. He also noted that even courts had pulled up some officers for illegal actions.
He warned officers again and said the current AAP government had only one year left. After that, every officer who followed illegal orders would face legal consequences. Badal also announced that the Akali Dal would fight every case linked to the Tarn Taran bypoll arrests. The party has already formed a special legal team for this purpose.
He added that some police teams were taking CCTV footage and DVRs from homes to hide their misconduct. He blamed Harmeet Singh Sandhu for preparing lists of Akali workers to settle personal scores.
Badal ended his visit with a gathering in Chabal. He thanked the people for supporting the Akali Dal, even under pressure from the state administration.
