Bollywood action star Tiger Shroff has been officially announced as the brand ambassador for Maharashtra’s newly launched Maha-Deva Football Initiative, a state-backed sports development programme designed to boost grassroots football and nurture young talent across districts. The initiative aims to provide professional-grade training, infrastructure access, and structured competition to budding players who aspire to build a long-term career in football.
The announcement was made on Monday at a state-level sports event attended by key sports authorities, youth representatives, and football coaches. Maharashtra Sports officials said that Tiger Shroff was selected for the campaign due to his strong fitness image, youth appeal, disciplined lifestyle, and his consistent advocacy for sports and athletic culture in India.
Tiger Shroff expressed his excitement at partnering with the programme, saying that football has always been close to his heart and that he strongly supports initiatives that encourage children to take up sports not just for career development, but for physical and mental health as well. He added that Maha-Deva can become a model initiative to identify future national and international stars if implemented consistently at district and village levels.
The Maha-Deva programme will include certified coaching sessions, nutrition awareness workshops, sports scholarships, and state-funded talent scouting tournaments. Officials stated that future phases will also involve collaborations with international coaches and professional clubs for advanced training.
Sports analysts believe Tiger Shroff’s involvement will significantly increase youth participation, social media visibility, and brand value for the initiative, especially among school-level and college-level athletes.
