Bihar Congress Notices Spark Fresh Internal Tension in Bihar

Bihar Congress notices issued to 43 leaders

The Bihar Congress notices issued to 43 leaders have created strong unrest inside the party. These Bihar Congress notices were sent after the state unit performed poorly in the recent election. Party leaders were asked to explain why they made public statements that went against the official party line.

The disciplinary committee demanded replies by November 21st. If the leaders fail to respond, they may face removal from primary membership for six years. Many of the leaders who received notices are former ministers, former MLAs, and senior spokespersons. They argue that they spoke only to save the party from weak decisions.

A group of these leaders earlier demanded the resignation of State Congress President Rajesh Ram. They also planned a protest at the Sadakat Ashram on November 22nd and announced another visit to Delhi on November 24th to raise their concerns with national leadership.

A meeting was recently held in Patna, where senior members discussed launching a movement to “save the Congress.” They stressed that before fighting “vote thieves,” the party must stop “ticket thieves.” This internal fight began after the Congress won only six out of 61 seats in the Bihar elections.
