Government Sets Stage for Indiramma Saree Distribution

Indiramma Saree Distribution Program begins with two-phase rollout supporting women and boosting handloom workers across Telangana.

The Telangana government has completed all arrangements for the launch of the Indiramma Saree distribution program. The initiative is being taken up to mark Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will soon pay floral tributes at the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road. He will then formally launch the Indiramma Saree distribution to women across the state under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme.

The distribution will be carried out in two phases. The first phase begins today and continues until December 9, which is celebrated as Telangana Talli Avatarana Day. During this phase, sarees will be distributed in rural areas. The second phase will run from March 1 to March 8, marking International Women’s Day, and sarees will be provided in urban regions.

Weavers in Sircilla have prepared nearly 55 lakh sarees for the program. Another five lakh sarees are under production and will be ready soon. The government aims to support women and boost local handloom employment through this initiative.

Officials say the program highlights the government’s commitment to empower women. The large-scale distribution is expected to benefit lakhs of families across Telangana.
