Political tension has grown in Bihar after KC Tyagi accused the Congress of trying to take the Karpoori Thakur People’s Leader legacy. He claimed that Congress leaders attempted to present Rahul Gandhi as the new Karpoori Thakur People’s Leader, which angered many voters. Tyagi said the people of Bihar firmly rejected this move.
He explained that Karpoori Thakur earned the title “Jan Nayak” because he worked for nearly 50 years for the socially backward. Tyagi said Bihar will not accept anyone trying to claim Thakur’s title. He also compared this to trying to take the titles of Mahatma Gandhi or Jayaprakash Narayan.
Tyagi reminded that in 1978, when Karpoori Thakur brought OBC, EBC and poor general-category reservations, the Congress protested. He accused the Congress of blocking the Mandal Commission recommendations many times.
Tyagi added that Rahul Gandhi never spoke about caste census or strong OBC rights during Congress rule. He said Rahul tried to present himself as a leader of social justice only after election losses, and voters saw it as insincere.
In the recent Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA won 202 of 243 seats. BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) won 85, while the Congress managed only six.
