The Varanasi Kolkata Expressway Boost Economy plan marks a major step toward faster growth in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The Modi government aims to improve long-distance travel and create new business opportunities through this new 610-km expressway. The project links Barahuli village in Chandauli near Varanasi to Uluberia near Kolkata. Officials believe the corridor will unlock jobs and investments across the entire region.

The expressway will pass through key districts in Bihar such as Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, and Gaya. It will then move into Jharkhand, covering Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Peterbar, Ranchi, and Bokaro. From there, it enters West Bengal through Purulia, Bankura, and Arambagh before ending at NH-19 in Uluberia.

The government expects the expressway to create rapid development along the route. Local markets will grow as hotels, hospitals, schools, petrol pumps, and restaurants open near the new highway. Property prices may rise sharply, giving the regional economy a strong push.

The foundation stone was laid in 2024, and work is moving at full speed. The Varanasi Kolkata Expressway Boost Economy project is expected to become a gamechanger by 2028, bringing better travel and wider growth to millions of people.
