Kerala CEO Warns of Strict Action Against Obstruction of BLOs During Voter List Revision

The Kerala Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Rathan U. Kelkar, has issued a stern warning against anyone obstructing Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from carrying out their duties related to the Systematic Internal Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. BLOs are responsible for updating voter lists, verifying details, and ensuring the accuracy of the electoral roll ahead of elections.
Kelkar emphasised that any interference with BLO activities will attract strict action under the law. At the same time, he acknowledged reports of work pressure faced by BLOs and assured that complaints regarding excessive workload or operational difficulties would be carefully examined.
The CEO urged citizens, political parties, and local officials to cooperate with BLOs to ensure smooth and timely updates to the voter list. This directive comes ahead of upcoming elections, reflecting the administration’s focus on maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Kerala’s electoral process while safeguarding the rights and safety of election officials.
