The women-led SHGs rural economy received a major push in Goa as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced new measures to strengthen self-help groups and rural enterprises. The women-led SHGs rural economy has remained a key priority for his government, and this meeting marked another strong step in that direction.

Sawant chaired a review meeting of the Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) at Mahalaxmi, Altinho. During the discussion, he approved several initiatives focused on improving marketing, branding and wider market linkages for products made by SHGs. He said these steps will help women-led groups reach more customers and create sustainable income.

The chief minister also stressed the need to improve access to bank credit. He said the government will work closely with banks so SHGs and Producers Groups can secure loans more easily and expand their ventures. Moreover, he highlighted plans to support rural enterprises in scaling production and increasing value addition, ensuring they grow faster in competitive markets.

Sawant added that the state remains committed to promoting women-driven entrepreneurship. He said these reforms will help build a stronger, self-reliant rural economy in Goa and open new opportunities for thousands of women across the state.
