Speculation Grows Over Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender’s Possible Resignation

Speculation rises on Danam Nagender resignation as Speaker reviews disqualification cases linked to party-switching MLAs in Telangana.

Speculation has intensified over Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender’s possible resignation. The Speaker is currently examining disqualification petitions filed against ten MLAs who won on BRS tickets but joined the Congress. Notices were issued to all ten legislators. Eight MLAs submitted their explanations, but Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari did not respond.

Fresh notices were issued again to both leaders, and the Speaker reportedly asked them to file affidavits immediately. The Supreme Court earlier directed that these disqualification cases be resolved within four weeks. With the inquiry for other MLAs completed, political circles are now discussing Danam’s next move. His silence has created more speculation.

Danam contested the recent Lok Sabha polls from Secunderabad on a Congress ticket. Sources say responding to the notice may create political complications for him later. If the decision goes against him, it may weaken his position. Reports indicate he is considering resignation as a safer political option, especially with Congress gaining strong momentum in Greater Hyderabad.

Nagender travelled to Delhi on Thursday and met senior AICC leaders. He reportedly discussed his resignation plan and requested a cabinet position if he wins the by-election again. His followers believe he may announce his decision anytime. Congress leaders also feel a by-poll win in Khairatabad would be easier after the party’s huge majority in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
