The JSSC CGL paper leak mastermind, Vinay Sah, has finally been caught after months of evading the police. The JSSC CGL paper leak case shook Jharkhand earlier this year, and investigators had been tracking his movements across states.
UP STF arrested Vinay Sah on Thursday from Hanumant Nagar Colony in Gorakhpur. Officers found him hiding in the Shahpur police station area. He worked as a section engineer in the North Eastern Railway’s mechanical factory. Because of this government job, he moved around confidently and tried to stay ahead of the police.
Investigators said that his arrest created tension inside the railway department. Many officers were shocked that a serving engineer managed to stay hidden for so long.
In January 2025, the Jharkhand Crime Branch filed major charges against him under the BNS (Indian Code of Justice) and the Competitive Examinations Act 2023. After that, he ran away and kept shifting locations in Gorakhpur. He even used a Nepali SIM card so that police could not track him easily.
Officials believe his arrest will open the door for more revelations in the exam leak case. Further questioning will help the police trace the network that helped him escape for months.
