Russia Offers India Fifth-Generation Fighter Tech in Major Defence Boost

Russia

Russia has made a major defence proposal to India ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s visit next month. Moscow has offered New Delhi full access to its fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighter technology, marking one of the most significant military offers India has ever received.

Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov told ANI at the Dubai Air Show 2025 that Russia is ready to supply Su-57 jets first and then gradually shift production to India. He said Russia is willing to share engines, sensors, stealth materials and other sensitive systems without restrictions.

Chemezov reminded that Russia has supported India for decades, even during periods of international sanctions. He said Moscow will meet any request New Delhi makes for platforms like the Su-57 or additional S-400 systems.

Officials from Rosoboronexport also confirmed that Russia is offering India technology transfer and deep industrial learning in next-generation capabilities, including AESA radar, optics, AI solutions, low-signature systems and advanced air weapons.

Analysts believe the proposal could also include the single-engine Su-75 Checkmate. Defence expert Vijainder K Thakur said India could assemble the Su-75 locally, creating a cost-effective stealth fighter that complements the twin-engine AMCA.

Putin is scheduled to visit India in December, and both nations are preparing major defence announcements.
