Nainar Nagenthran Urges Submission of Revised Coimbatore and Madurai Metro Rail Proposals
Former DMK MP Nainar Nagenthran has urged the state government to submit revised project proposals for the Coimbatore and Madurai Metro Rail projects, claiming delays have stalled progress on these key urban transport initiatives. Speaking from Tirunelveli, he alleged that the ruling party and its allies are politicizing the Metro Rail issue to divert public attention from significant developments in the region.
Nagenthran specifically referenced the recent event in Coimbatore where Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over assistance worth ₹18,000 crore to farmers, suggesting that political narratives around Metro Rail are being amplified to overshadow this major welfare announcement.
He emphasized the importance of timely submission and approval of project proposals to ensure that urban infrastructure development in Coimbatore and Madurai keeps pace with growing commuter needs. Nagenthran also called for transparency in project planning and a focus on citizen-centric outcomes rather than political point-scoring.
