MTC Launches ‘Bus First’ Campaign in Chennai
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has launched a new ‘Bus First’ campaign in Chennai to encourage the public to prioritise bus travel as a primary mode of transport. The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion, cut pollution, and promote the use of affordable and efficient public transport across the city.
To strengthen outreach, MTC has roped in cricketer Thirush Kamini as the campaign’s brand ambassador. Her involvement is expected to help the message reach younger commuters and sports enthusiasts, inspiring more people to choose buses for daily travel.
As part of the campaign, MTC will highlight improvements in its fleet, including upgraded buses, better frequency on busy routes, and enhanced passenger amenities. Awareness drives, events, and digital promotions will also be rolled out across Chennai.
Officials expressed hope that the initiative will shift commuter habits toward sustainable transport and ease the overall burden on the city’s road network.
