Major discussions on the district reorganization in Andhra Pradesh are moving forward once again. Today, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will meet the Cabinet Sub-Committee for another detailed review. Yesterday, he advised the panel to avoid merging Markapuram, Madanapalle, Rampachodavaram and Chinturu divisions while forming new districts. He also offered fresh suggestions on boundary changes and new revenue divisions.
After receiving these directions, the committee began drafting another updated report. The revised version will be presented today, and the Chief Minister will lead the final discussion. Meanwhile, officials indicated that Addanki and Kandukur constituencies in Prakasam district could be included in the list. Furthermore, the creation of new revenue divisions in Addanki and Madakasira may receive positive consideration.
The government earlier placed the proposal for Banaganapalle revenue division on hold. However, officials plan to push the idea of shifting the Gudur division from Tirupati district to Nellore. They also want to review the proposal to move the Nagari division from Chittoor to Tirupati. These issues are expected to shape the final structure of the district map.
With today’s review, the government aims to bring clarity to pending proposals. Additionally, senior officials believe that the Chief Minister may issue key decisions that will influence administrative boundaries across the state. A final announcement may follow soon after the meeting concludes.
