DSS Tells RSS: Permissions Come from the Constitution, Not Slogans

The Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) has criticised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the organisation must recognise that permissions for public events flow from constitutional provisions and legal processes, not from slogans like “Jai Shri Ram.” The remark comes after the RSS conducted its route march in Chittapur on November 16, 2025 — an event permitted only after court directions, marking the first time in its 100-year history that the organisation had to strictly follow constitutional procedures to hold such a march.
DSS leaders said the episode highlights the importance of the rule of law and demonstrates that no organisation is above constitutional norms. They argued that the RSS’s compliance with court-mandated guidelines should serve as a reminder that democratic institutions hold primacy over ideological assertions. The DSS also called for continued vigilance to ensure all groups, irrespective of affiliation, adhere to legal requirements when organising public events.
