Punjab Family Tragedy: 5 Killed in Brampton House Fire

Punjab family tragedy

Guram village in Ludhiana district is reeling from grief after five members of a local family died in a house fire in Brampton, Canada. The fire broke out last Thursday, leaving the community shocked and devastated.

Among the victims was the unborn child of Arashveer Kaur. She survived by jumping from the roof but suffered severe injuries that caused a miscarriage. Jugraj Singh, the only family member present at the time, managed to escape the blaze. However, he lost his mother-in-law, unmarried sister-in-law, niece, and his wife’s cousin in the fire.

Former sarpanch Ranvir Singh Mehmi confirmed that one of the deceased was an unmarried woman from the village who burned alive. Many family members had migrated to Canada over the years seeking better opportunities. Relatives still in Punjab have now rushed to Canada after hearing the tragic news.

The fire has left the village in mourning. Families and neighbors are providing emotional support to Jugraj Singh and the survivors. The authorities in Canada are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Villagers expressed their sorrow over the untimely deaths of a farming family who had moved abroad for a better life. No decision has yet been made regarding the last rites of the deceased. The tragedy underscores how quickly life can change, even for those living far from home.

Community members continue to offer support to the family while keeping the memory of the victims alive.
