ECI Tells SC Kerala’s Electoral Roll Revision on Track; 99% Forms Distributed

The Election Commission of India (ECI) informed the Supreme Court that the Summary Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala is progressing smoothly and is not facing any major hurdles. The process, which runs from November 4 to December 4, precedes the State’s local body elections scheduled from December 9 to 11. The ECI reported that enumeration forms have already been distributed to 99% of voters, underscoring efficient field-level coordination.
During the hearing, the Commission added that 50% of the collected forms have been digitised, and more Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be deployed if required to ensure timely completion of the revision exercise. The ECI maintained that the SIR process is essential for updating electoral rolls and ensuring accuracy before the upcoming elections. The Supreme Court reviewed these submissions as part of ongoing scrutiny of the electoral revision procedure in the State.
