Pinarayi Urges Kerala MPs to Push for Presidential Assent to Wildlife Bill

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the State’s MPs to work together to secure Presidential assent for the newly passed Kerala Wildlife Protection (Amendment) Bill, aimed at addressing the growing human–animal conflict. Chairing a meeting of MPs ahead of the winter session of Parliament, the Chief Minister stressed that the Bill is crucial for safeguarding human lives in regions facing frequent wildlife attacks.
The legislation, passed by the Kerala Assembly in October 2025, introduces provisions to speed up action against dangerous wild animals that injure people or pose an immediate threat to human life. The Bill seeks to empower authorities to respond more swiftly in crisis situations, especially in areas that have seen rising incidents involving elephants, wild boars, and other wildlife straying into human settlements.
Vijayan asked MPs to collectively ensure that the Bill receives timely approval, emphasising the urgent need for practical solutions to protect vulnerable communities.
