The Congress alleges obstruction in Margao SIR drive brought attention to potential irregularities in Part No. 15.
Congress Block Convener Savio Coutinho said that most households reported they had not received the voter acknowledgement copies from the local BLO. When confronted, the BLO admitted withholding the copies, claiming the forms might be lost. Coutinho called this excuse “unjustified and irresponsible.”
The Congress team discovered multilayer voter enrolment in several households, where previous residents’ names remained on the electoral rolls even after moving out. The BLO confirmed this issue, highlighting a serious administrative lapse. Coutinho demanded that the Election Commission clarify whether multiple enrolments in a single household are permissible.
Coutinho emphasized that the Congress aims to ensure every eligible voter is included in the rolls while removing bogus entries. He vowed to continue the awareness campaign to safeguard voter rights and strengthen transparency in the electoral process.
