International pop-rock sensation Richard Marx, known for global hits like Right Here Waiting and Hazard, is set to perform at the Me’gong Festival 2025 in Tura, western Meghalaya. Festival organisers announced the major lineup on Friday, confirming that the two-day event will take place on December 5 and 6.
The Me’gong Festival, one of the Garo Hills’ biggest annual cultural celebrations, continues to gain international attention each year. The addition of Richard Marx as the star performer marks one of the grandest lineups in the festival’s history. The organisers said the festival aims to showcase Garo culture while bringing world-class music to the region.
Along with Marx, the festival will feature the popular Dutch electronic music duo Yellow Claw, known for their high-energy EDM performances at global festivals. Their appearance is expected to attract young music enthusiasts from across the Northeast.
Adding to the star power, Bollywood singers Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan will also perform during the two-day event. Both artists have delivered chart-topping hits and are known for energetic stage shows, making them strong attractions for the festival audience.
The Me’gong Festival blends traditional Garo culture with contemporary music, food, handicrafts, and indigenous performances. Local artisans, entrepreneurs, and performers will also participate, giving visitors a glimpse into the rich heritage of the region.
Tourism officials said the festival contributes significantly to promoting Meghalaya as a cultural hotspot and helps boost the local economy. With Richard Marx headlining this year, the 2025 edition is expected to draw tourists not only from India but also from neighbouring countries.
The organisers added that safety, hospitality, and large-scale arrangements are underway to host one of the most memorable editions of the Me’gong Festival.
