Kerala HC Issues Guidelines to Curb Overcrowding at Sabarimala
The Kerala High Court has issued strict directions to prevent overcrowding at Sabarimala, asking authorities to ensure that only devotees with valid virtual queue passes or spot-booking passes corresponding to the allotted date and time are allowed entry to the Sannidhanam. The directive comes amid rising concerns over congestion during the ongoing pilgrimage season, which has seen a sharp increase in footfall.
The court emphasised that crowd management is crucial for ensuring the safety and convenience of devotees, particularly during peak days. It urged officials to deploy adequate personnel to verify passes and regulate the inflow of pilgrims.
Additionally, the court instructed the Travancore Devaswom Board and the police to coordinate more effectively to maintain smooth movement and prevent bottlenecks along key routes.
The ruling is expected to streamline pilgrim entry and reduce the risk of overcrowding-related incidents during the remainder of the season.
