Chandrayaan Success, Vaccines Boost India’s Global Science Standing: Mizoram Governor

Mizoram Governor VK Singh speaking about India’s rising global science standing

Mizoram Governor VK Singh said that India’s scientific capabilities have reached new heights in recent years, crediting landmark achievements such as Chandrayaan missions and Covid-19 vaccine development for elevating India’s global science standing. Addressing an event in Aizawl, the Governor highlighted how the nation’s strategic focus on research, innovation, and technology has helped it emerge as a global contributor in critical scientific domains.

Governor Singh stated that India’s successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, which made the country the first to land on the Moon’s south pole, showcased the expertise of Indian scientists and boosted the nation’s international reputation. He added that these space milestones not only enhanced scientific prestige but also positioned India as a key player in future lunar and planetary exploration.

He further noted that India’s swift and efficient development of indigenous Covid-19 vaccines, along with large-scale production capacity, provided timely support to many countries during the global health crisis. This humanitarian approach, he said, strengthened international trust in India’s scientific and medical institutions.

The Governor also highlighted several government initiatives aimed at boosting innovation—including reforms in higher education, support for start-ups, and the promotion of research ecosystems across universities and technical institutes. These steps, he said, are nurturing a generation of young scientists who are ready to contribute to national progress.

Emphasizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said India is entering a transformative phase where technology, space science, biotechnology, and digital innovation will play decisive roles. He stressed that continued investment in research and youth will ensure that India’s global science standing continues to rise in the coming decades.
