Shettar Flags Governance Breakdown, Hints at Seeking President’s Rule

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar has indicated that he may raise the demand for President’s Rule in Karnataka, alleging that governance has come to a halt due to escalating infighting within the ruling Congress. Speaking in Belagavi on November 28, 2025, Shettar said that administrative machinery has been paralysed as Congress leaders remain preoccupied with internal power struggles rather than public welfare.
He criticised the government for failing to deliver basic services and claimed that several developmental projects have stalled in recent months. Shettar emphasised that while the BJP is concerned about the deterioration of governance, it has no intention of engineering defections or attempting to return to power through any “Operation Congress,” distancing his party from speculation about political manoeuvring.
He added that if the situation continues to worsen, raising the issue of President’s Rule may become necessary to restore stability and ensure effective administration in the State.
