Land Acquisition for Parandur Airport Begins, AAI Plans Expansion and Cargo Terminal
Union MP T.R. Baalu has confirmed that land acquisition for the proposed Parandur Airport in Tamil Nadu has officially begun. Speaking on November 29, 2025, Baalu highlighted that the project aims to bolster regional connectivity and support the State’s growing aviation and logistics needs.
He added that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is simultaneously preparing plans to expand the existing airport infrastructure and construct a new freight cargo terminal. The expansion is expected to increase passenger handling capacity and enhance cargo operations, positioning the region as a strategic hub for both domestic and international trade.
The MP emphasized that the airport project is expected to generate employment opportunities and drive economic growth in surrounding districts. Authorities have assured that the land acquisition process will be carried out transparently, with appropriate compensation and rehabilitation measures for affected landowners. The project is viewed as a critical step in strengthening Tamil Nadu’s aviation network.
