Kadthal Farmers Urge Powergrid to Protect Lands from 765 kV Transmission Line
Farmers from Kadthal met officials of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to express concerns over losing their lands due to the construction of the Bidar-Maheshwaram 765 kV transmission line. The delegation was led by BRS MP V. Ravichandra and former MLA G. Jaipal Yadav, who highlighted the potential displacement and loss of agricultural lands affecting the livelihoods of several families.
The farmers urged PGCIL officials to explore alternatives that would minimise land acquisition or adopt measures to compensate adequately for the loss of valuable farmland. They stressed the importance of balancing infrastructure development with the protection of local communities and their primary source of income.
Officials reportedly listened to the grievances and assured the delegation that the matter would be examined seriously, with efforts made to reduce land acquisition impact and safeguard the interests of the farmers. The meeting underscored the need for dialogue between authorities and local stakeholders in infrastructure projects.
