Elon Musk has praised the contributions of talented Indians to the United States. He spoke during an episode of Nikhil Kamath’s “People by WTF” podcast. Musk said American companies still struggle to find skilled workers for complex jobs. He believes more global talent can help solve that shortage. His comments come as many Indians face rising visa hurdles and uncertainty in US immigration rules.
Musk said some Americans fear that foreign workers take away jobs. He disagreed and stressed that real talent remains scarce. He said all his companies aim to hire the best people from anywhere in the world.
He also spoke about misuse of the H-1B visa. He said some outsourcing companies have “gamed the system.” He called for tighter controls but rejected calls to shut down the programme. Musk warned that ending H-1B visas would hurt the US economy.
The visa debate intensified after President Trump proposed a sharp hike in application fees. Supporters of the move claimed widespread fraud, while critics said it would block skilled workers. Trump later said he welcomed experts who could help build advanced technologies.
India remains the biggest beneficiary of H-1B visas, with 71 percent of approvals last year. Musk also defended the need for strong border controls, saying weak enforcement under Biden encouraged illegal immigration.
