Severe Cold Intensifies in the State; Cold Wave Alert from December 5 — Icy Winds to Blow from the Himalayas

The cold wave is strengthening across the country, with Madhya Pradesh witnessing the sharpest drop in temperatures. Pachmarhi remained the coldest location in the state, recording 6.8°C. Rajgarh recorded 8.2°C, while temperatures in Rewa and Naogaon touched 9.5°C. Shivpuri, Betul, Khajuraho, Khandwa, Datia, and Chhindwara also remained below 12°C.

According to the Meteorological Department, a cold wave alert has been issued for December 5–6. A new western disturbance will trigger snowfall in the Himalayan regions, after which icy winds will move toward Madhya Pradesh, further intensifying the chill.

Bhopal, Indore and four other districts recorded temperatures below 10°C. Among the major cities, Indore was the coldest at 8.2°C. Bhopal recorded 9.4°C, while Gwalior and Ujjain touched 12°C, and Jabalpur recorded 11.8°C.

Severe cold is affecting daily life, and temperatures may drop further by 2–3°C over the next two days.
