Over 980 People Booked for Drunk Driving
Authorities have booked over 980 individuals for drunk driving in recent enforcement drives, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety. Most offenders were found to have Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels ranging between 35 mg and 200 mg per 100 ml, well above permissible limits, indicating significant intoxication.
Traffic police emphasized that driving under the influence poses a serious threat to both the driver and the public, contributing to accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Stringent checks and random breathalyzer tests were conducted across key highways and city roads to identify and penalize violators.
Officials stated that penalties for offenders include fines, suspension of driving licenses, and in severe cases, legal action under relevant motor vehicle laws. Public awareness campaigns are also being intensified to educate citizens about the dangers of drunk driving. Authorities urged drivers to exercise responsibility, avoid alcohol before driving, and prioritize safety to prevent accidents.
