Waqf UMEED Portal Faces Delays Amid Rush to Register Institutions
The Waqf UMEED portal, designed to digitize records of waqf properties and institutions, is facing delays and technical issues, causing concern among administrators. The portal is tasked with uploading documents of an estimated 20,000 unregistered waqf institutions, including smaller masjids and chillas, to create a centralized digital registry.
Officials report that frequent technical glitches, slow processing, and system crashes are slowing down the registration process. Administrators are also racing against time, as deadlines for completing uploads are approaching, adding pressure on waqf boards and local committees.
Despite these challenges, authorities are urging waqf managers to persist, noting that the portal is a crucial step toward transparency, proper management, and legal recognition of waqf properties. Efforts are underway to resolve technical issues and provide guidance to ensure smooth data entry and verification for all unregistered institutions.
