Doctors Urge Medical Professional as KNRUHS Vice-Chancellor
The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA) has urged the State government to appoint a medical professional as the Vice-Chancellor of the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS). The association expressed concern over reports suggesting that an IAS officer may be appointed as the temporary Vice-Chancellor, arguing that such a decision could affect the academic and administrative functioning of the health university.
TGDA officials stressed that KNRUHS, being a specialized health sciences institution, requires leadership with medical and research expertise to guide curriculum development, faculty management, and policy implementation effectively. They highlighted the importance of domain knowledge in medicine and healthcare education to maintain the university’s standards and promote high-quality medical education in the State.
The association has called on the government to consider recommendations from medical bodies and stakeholders before finalizing the appointment, emphasizing the need for a leader with professional credibility and experience in medical education.
