The Telangana High Court issued notices to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL).

The order came after Bharti Airtel filed a writ petition. The company challenged the removal of its optical fiber cables from electricity poles in Hyderabad.

Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka, who heard the case, said the issue goes beyond telecom services. He noted it also concerns accountability for public safety.

The petition followed the Ramanthapur tragedy. Five people died after touching a live cable during a Sri Krishnashtami procession.

After the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed officials to remove all cables from electricity poles without delay.

The High Court will review the case further in the coming days.
