Air Fares Skyrocket Following IndiGo Cancellations; Hyderabad–Bhopal Ticket Hits ₹1.03 Lakh
Passengers are facing steep airfare increases after multiple flight cancellations by IndiGo, one of India’s largest carriers. Reports indicate that the price for a one-way ticket from Hyderabad to Bhopal surged to ₹1.03 lakh, leaving travellers scrambling for alternatives.
Industry experts said the sudden spike is due to a combination of reduced seat availability, high demand during the festive and holiday season, and limited backup options from other carriers. Passengers expressed frustration over the lack of timely communication regarding cancellations and the high cost of rescheduling flights.
IndiGo officials attributed the cancellations to operational constraints but assured affected travellers that compensation and support measures would be provided in accordance with airline policies and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulations. Aviation authorities are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further disruptions and ensure fair pricing for passengers.
