Telangana Police: Cybercrime Will Be Harder but Not Impossible with Sanchar Saathi
Telangana police have stated that the new Sanchar Saathi framework will make cybercrime investigations more effective, though not completely foolproof. The system, designed to strengthen mobile number verification and tracking, aims to deter misuse of telecom services and help authorities trace criminals more efficiently.
Officials highlighted that while Sanchar Saathi will increase the cost and complexity of cyber offences, determined cybercriminals may still find ways to exploit loopholes. They emphasised that its success depends on robust implementation and collaboration between telecom providers and law enforcement.
Telangana police also suggested that a similar framework is urgently needed for the banking sector, where frauds and digital crimes continue to rise. Such measures, they argue, would enhance accountability, reduce financial cybercrime, and protect citizens from emerging threats in the digital space, ensuring a more secure ecosystem for both telecom and banking services.
