Poll Preparations Intensify in Ernakulam as Officials Juggle SIR and Election Duties
Preparations for the upcoming elections in Ernakulam have entered a crucial phase, with officials balancing routine State Investment Region (SIR) responsibilities alongside intensive election duties. Election-related work, which began in July, gained momentum this week with the commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) on Wednesday.
Nearly 30 officials from various departments stationed at the civil station are reportedly working round the clock to ensure smooth conduct of the polls while maintaining administrative efficiency in other sectors. The dual responsibilities have added pressure on staff, who are coordinating logistics, voter lists, polling arrangements, and security protocols simultaneously.
Authorities emphasised the importance of meticulous planning and collaboration among departments to ensure that electoral processes proceed seamlessly. Officials also highlighted the role of technology, such as EVMs, in streamlining voting procedures and reducing human error, aiming for a transparent, efficient, and well-organised election in Ernakulam.
