Telangana is seeking financial support of US $500 million from the World Bank for the development of the Musi Riverfront project, Union Minister informed the Lok Sabha. The announcement came while responding to a query raised by Eatala Rajender regarding the estimated cost and funding of the project.
The Musi Riverfront initiative aims to rejuvenate the river, improve flood management, and enhance urban infrastructure along its banks. The project also focuses on creating public spaces, parks, and walkways to promote sustainable urban development and provide recreational facilities for citizens.
Officials highlighted that the government is exploring multilateral funding options to ensure timely implementation while minimizing the financial burden on the state. The proposed assistance from the World Bank is expected to help execute the project efficiently, incorporating modern urban planning standards and environmental safeguards. The project is envisioned as a key step in transforming Hyderabad’s urban landscape.
