A.P. Agriculture Dept Promotes Value-Added Farming to Increase Farmers’ Income
The Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Department has launched an initiative aimed at boosting farmers’ income through value addition and market-oriented cultivation. Director of Agriculture Manazir Jeelani Samoon emphasised that transforming farmers’ mindsets is crucial for achieving higher earnings and sustainable growth. He urged Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RSK) functionaries to play a proactive role in guiding farmers toward adopting demand-based crops and value-added production techniques.
Samoon highlighted the importance of linking cultivation practices with global market trends, encouraging farmers to produce crops that have higher commercial potential and better returns. The initiative also includes training on post-harvest processing, packaging, and marketing strategies to enable farmers to benefit from value addition. By providing technical guidance, market insights, and hands-on support, the department aims to create a more entrepreneurial approach among farmers. Officials believe that these measures will not only increase income levels but also strengthen the state’s agricultural economy and enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
